Botox

Botox, also known as botulinum toxin type A, is made from the bacteria that causes botulism. It works by blocking nerve activity in muscles, temporarily reducing muscle movement. Botox is used for various medical and cosmetic applications, including treating muscle stiffness, chronic migraines, excessive underarm sweating, and reducing the appearance of facial wrinkles.

How It Works

Botox injections weaken or paralyze specific muscles or block nerve signals, with effects lasting between three to twelve months. Common side effects include pain, swelling, or bruising at the injection site, along with flu-like symptoms.

Uses

  • Treating eye disorders like crossed eyes (strabismus) and uncontrolled blinking (blepharospasm).
  • Relieving muscle stiffness, spasms, and movement disorders.
  • Preventing chronic migraines.
  • Reducing the appearance of facial wrinkles.
  • Treating overactive bladder.
  • Reducing excessive underarm sweating.

Restylane

Restylane is an FDA-approved dermal filler made of biodegradable, non-animal stabilized hyaluronic acid (NASHA). It provides volume and fullness to the skin and is used to reduce facial wrinkles and folds, as well as for lip augmentation.

Medical Uses

  • Lip enhancement (volume and contouring).
  • Reducing wrinkles and aging lines, such as nasolabial folds (nose to mouth lines) and forehead wrinkles.
  • Filling facial hollows and orbital troughs (under-eye areas).
  • Contouring the chin, forehead, and nose.

Results from Restylane treatment can be seen immediately and last for up to six months, depending on the injection site.
